Green horse table lamp with pink and green floral sari fabric shade on antique wooden chest, preppy English country home library decor

Create instant warmth and character with charming details like this jade green equestrian lamp topped with a vibrant sari fabric shade. The bright pink trim against emerald green brings that perfect pop of saturated color that makes English country rooms feel so inviting.

Maximalist library with colorful kilim patterned sofa, emerald green built-in bookshelves, red walls, and blue and white porcelain collection, English country style

The saturated color of this maximalist library's antique kilim sofa and leaf-green shelving makes a vibrant, cozy hideaway.

Linking to a (different) very special antique kilim sofa from Liberty of London.

Two-story English library with floor-to-ceiling dark wood bookshelves, brass gallery ladder, antique crystal chandelier, and long wooden table at the Athenaeum Club London

The Athenaeum Club's galleried library in London houses over 80,000 books on floor-to-ceiling shelves. Built as tall as architecturally possible in the mid-1800s, the collection has since expanded into two additional rooms. This is what serious collecting looks like—libraries designed around books, not decorative objects masquerading as libraries. Photo: Country Life Image Archive

I’m linking to a treasure for someone’s library. Since it’s October, I found a signed letter from Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, written in Rome, in Italian, in 1843. It is listed at Abe Books, which I often use to buy antique books when I need something special.
